Sample Shipping Requirements

If DTS customers are sending samples for IRL work-up, the red E97U shipping container can be used for transportation when refrigerated temperatures are required. Other customers of IRL must use suitable containers that meet the required shipping temperatures.

Samples for red cell serological workups should be shipped in a container maintaining a temperature between 1C - 10 C.

Samples for platelet antibody testing should be shipped in a container maintaining a temperature between 1C -10C.

Samples for platelet testing including HPA-1a (PlA1) typing and direct antiglobulin test should be shipped in a container maintaining a temperature between 18C - 25C.

Blood Systems, Inc. has two Donor Testing Service (DTS) laboratories. Our second laboratory, in Bedford, Texas was opened in 1999. Both DTS laboratories are Food and Drug Administration (FDA) licensed facilities. Both DTS laboratories also hold current certifications for the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act (CLIA) as well as accreditation with the American Association of Blood Banks and the New York State Department of Health.
