- Customers utlizing an electronic interface are notified by telephone or FAX of electronic file release. Customers without an electronic interface receive an email report.
- Holiday schedules are generally consistent with routine processing. Exceptions are communicated to allow for appropriate scheduling.
Testing Schedule
Supplemental/confirmatory testing is performed in Tempe facility.
- HIV–1 and HCV discriminatory tests are used to further analyze individual samples that are reactive by the HIV-1/HCV Multiplex assay. NAT HIV–1 and HCV discriminatory testing are performed three times each week in the NAT Laboratory in Tempe, Arizona. Bedford DTS sends reactive NAT samples to the Tempe NAT Lab. The NAT Laboratory in Tempe reports results directly to the client.
- Viral Marker and Syphilis supplemental and confirmatory testing are performed in the Special Testing Laboratory in Tempe, Arizona. DTS Bedford sends repeat reactive samples to the Special Testing Laboratory in Tempe. In Special Testing, assays performed two to three times per week, Monday through Friday, excluding holidays. The Special Testing Laboratory in Tempe reports results directly to the client.
- ABO/RH discrepancies and Antibody Identification are performed several times each week in the Immunohematology Reference Laboratory (IRL) in Tempe, Arizona. DTS Bedford sends samples with ABO/RH discrepancies and positive antibody screens to IRL in Tempe. The IRL Reference Laboratory faxes result reports directly to the client.
Delays
- Tubes that do not conform to labeling policy will result in testing/result reporting delays.
- Delays in testing may occur due to late shipments and samples with inadequate volume.
- Customers will be notified by telephone and fax if delays occur in sample receipt.
- Customers are notified by fax if delays occur in result reporting.
Sample Retention
- Samples are stored refrigerated for 7 days following date received.
- Repeat reactive samples are stored frozen for six months.
