Donor Testing

Blood Systems has two Donor Testing Services (DTS) laboratories. The DTS laboratory in Tempe, Arizona was formed in 1991 as Blood Systems first regional donor testing laboratory. The DTS laboratory in Bedford, Texas was opened in 1999 as Blood Systems second regional donor testing laboratory. Both DTS laboratories are Food and Drug Administration (FDA) licensed facilities. Both DTS laboratories also hold current certifications for the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act (CLIA) as well as accreditation with the American Association of Blood Banks and the New York State Department of Health. The DTS laboratory in Tempe also holds accreditation with the State of California. In addition to donor specimen testing, the laboratories participate in clinical evaluation of reagents, test kits, and equipment.

Donor Testing Services strives to provide the highest quality in testing and service. The laboratories maintain internal Quality Control programs and participate voluntarily in external Quality Assurance programs. Blood specimens are processed utilizing state of the art technology with FDA licensed test kits and reagents.

Both Laboratories are equipped with multiple and redundant instruments required for routine processing. Additionally, each facility (Tempe and Bedford) act as a backup to each other.
