Blood Banking Technology Program

Blood Systems is presenting an online Blood Bank Technology Program.

The online Blood Bank Technology Program curriculum provides intensive professional study in both theoretical and applied educational areas for the experienced clinical laboratory scientist. The theory portion includes didactic online courses. The clinical component is provided at blood center and transfusion service settings.

Upon successful completion of the program, graduates are awarded a continuing education certificate in blood bank technology.

Graduates of the program are eligible to take the certification examination for Specialist in Blood Bank Technology administered by the Board of Registry of the American Society for Clinical Pathology.

The Blood Bank Technology Program is a 2-year part-time program composed of seven didactic courses and five clinical practice courses. These courses include:

Blood Systems, Inc. has two Donor Testing Service (DTS) laboratories. Our second laboratory, in Bedford, Texas was opened in 1999. Both DTS laboratories are Food and Drug Administration (FDA) licensed facilities. Both DTS laboratories also hold current certifications for the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act (CLIA) as well as accreditation with the American Association of Blood Banks and the New York State Department of Health.
