Certifications, Registrations, Accreditations and Licenses

Blood Systems Laboratories (BSL), part of Blood Systems, is a non-profit organization which consists of three types of Clinical Laboratories: Immunohematology Reference Laboratory (IRL), HLA & Immunogenetics Laboratory (HLAI) and Cellular Therapy Laboratory (CTL).

Other IRL facilities operated by members and affiliates of Blood Systems include Blood Centers of the Pacific (San Francisco), Bonfils Blood Center (Denver) and LifeStream (San Bernardino).

The Blood Systems Laboratories IRL is registered with the FDA, licensed under the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act (CLIA) and, in California, and accredited by the AABB. The HLAI laboratory is licensed under CLIA and accredited by the American Society for Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics (ASHI). The CTL laboratory is registered with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), accredited by FACT, and licensed with the State of California. Corporate quality inspections by Blood Systems are conducted for continuous quality improvement.

This internal audit insures standards of accreditating agencies are upheld within policies and procedures.
